Our history began in 1978 as a retail tire operation in Morristown, Minnesota. The office and shop was a pick up truck owned and operated by Jim Hermel. In early 1979 a longtime friend, Jim Senne, offered his garage as the after hours shop for mounting tires. The growth of the business demanded a permanent location, and an investment was made in the lot and building presently located on Highway 60 in Morristown. A full time tire service, "Wholesale Tire" had officially begun. By 1987, the product line expanded to include truck, bus, and farm tire repair and vehicle alignments. To better serve our customers the first storage facility was added to the site in 1988.

The growth of the business spread to Owatonna, Minnesota in 1988 with a small rental site on County Road 45 North which served the business until a permanent location was purchased in 1991 at 2020 South Cedar. The Owatonna store is a full service auto repair and tire facility.

The two locations were linked together in 1990 with the purchase of the Faribault location at 729 Fourth Street NW. By 1994 the three original service stalls had been increased to seven with a new addition, which also included storage areas for tires and automotive parts.

The LP and bulk fuel handling trade complemented the business very well. It became an important part with the purchase of the Morristown Amoco bulk fuel station from jobber, Wilmer Schmidtke, and also the local LP business from former LP dealer, Lawrence Schwartz, of Morristown. Today Wholesale Tire serves farm, home, and area lake homes with heating oil, fuel, and LP needs.

Additional storage and office space was added to the Morristown location in 1995. In 1996 a storage building was purchased in downtown Morristown. This 5,800 square feet building serves as a warehouse for many tires carried by Wholesale Tire including auto, truck, and passenger tires.

The space for the corporate office was added to the Morristown site in April of 2000.

On September 1, 2001 a fourth Wholesale Tire location was opened on the corner of Main Street and Highway 14 in Janesville. This location was known for many years as the Janesville Oil Company. The property underwent some extensive remodeling, creating a three bay site as well as a gas service station.

In the winter of 2001 Morristown added yet another storage warehouse for tires.

On July 1, 2002 the fifth Wholesale Tire location was opened in the Mankato Auto Mall. The newest Wholesale Tire is comprised of six bays of leased space. It is located in a high traffic area of one of the top rental cities in Southern Minnesota.

In 2003 office space for the wholesale division and auto parts distribution was added to the Morristown site. The remodeling resulted in the combined 6,400 square feet Morristown Wholesale Tire location.

The corporate office of the company remains in Morristown, Minnesota. This year Wholesale Tire is happy to celebrate 26 years of business. Over the years many fine customers and friends have been made. Currently, Wholesale Tire provides employment for over 50 individuals throughout their locations.
